Eco-friendly packaging

As a company that cares about our planet and wishes to make a difference to our environment, it’s important to us that we partner with people who share our beliefs. Together with Econic and noissue, we have created a sustainable and eco-friendly packaging solution for all babyface. collagen products.

 Why sustainable packaging?

We are proud to work with Econic and noissue in developing sustainable packaging for our products.

For over 20 years, Convex has been steadfast in reducing its impact on the environment by offering innovative, functional and sustainable packaging services to companies in New Zealand and around the world. Leveraging the company’s Econic ® solution, we are able to create home-compostable packaging for all babyface. products.

Our collaboration with noissue resulted in logo stickers that are also compostable. We like how the company balances design with a transparent and eco-friendly ethos. From the use of sustainable raw materials like acid-free paper and soy-based ink to their eco-packaging alliance program, noissue stands for ideals that matter to us.

Affordable and Functional

The Econic journey began in 1995 with purchasing what was possibly the first commercial cornstarch-based packaging resin from a visionary company in Europe. They developed that resin into a film they market as Greensack™ . Although Greensack™ is very functional, with similar properties to traditional Polyethylene (PE) plastic – its softness, opaque colour and initial premium price limited its suitability for widespread use. So they developed the film further to make it more affordable and functional. Econic also started working with other resins made from compostable materials, as they became available – and continue to do so today.

Sustainably Produced

Since its initial launch in 2010, Econic has evolved to include a growing range of variants that have slightly different renewable content, aesthetic features and barrier properties to the original high barrier film. The majority of every bag or wrapper branded `Econic’, ‘EconicKraft’ or ‘EconicClear’ is made from a combination of compostable films derived from sustainably-managed renewable resources.

Each film on the babyface. pouch has been internationally certified to the European and American commercial compostability standards (EN 13432 and ASTM6400) and either the European or Australian home compostable standards: OK Compost Home or AS5810.
Econic pouches are easy to dispose, as any worm farm or home compost bin is an ideal environment for decomposition. We recommend disposing of your Econic bags in an environment containing heat, water, oxygen, soil and micro-organisms. Don't worry, the inks we use in this form of digital printing are non-toxic, heavy metal free, water based inks - so worms won't even know the difference!
